What Is Financial Wellness?
According to benefitspro.com, financial wellness isn’t just about 401k contributions, and how prepared you are for retirement, as most would assume. It’s noted that financial wellness is more about becoming more financially stable, reducing anxiety around money, and becoming debt free!
I was stunned when I came across these statistics about financial wellness on daveramsey.com:
*CNN Money 2013; ” More than two-thirds (70%) of all Americans are living paycheck to paycheck, with no regular savings goals.
*USA Today 2014; “Very few Americans have the savings they need to live comfortably well into retirement.” 52% of Americans have less than $10,000 saved for retirement.
*Market Watch 2015; “The majority (64%) of Americans can’t cover a $1,000 emergency without borrowing money, making every unexpected expense a crisis.”
So, where are you on the journey to financial wellness, and personal well-being? Have you created a plan to; save for retirement, establish a college savings plan your children or self, build an emergency fund, or to finally become debt free?
Here’s the good news, it’s not too late to start!! Well-at-Work and PNC have teamed up to deliver a financial wellness and 401k seminar on your campus in August. Christian Care staff will have the opportunity to attend a group session, and schedule a one on one conversation with a 401k representative. Dates for your campus will be posted soon.
